The Novel, The Script, The Show & The Future

One hour with me would turn into a marathon of brainstorming that would kill reservation while breeding inspiration. I can lead the right producer into a world they will never wish to leave.  The marketing is embedded and you don't have to work it in.  The brands do.

The culture is integrated.  You don't have to DEI it because it lives inside the DNA.

The story is written so completely that the hardest part is editing out what you do not want.
The music is important but most of it is interchangeable.  Don't have the catalog?
Then let's fit yours in.

The options are like me compounded.

The next step is the meeting.  So let's have it.  James@narssica.com

The creation of Narssica spawned in 1999 when I was living a dreamy,
"thirty-something's" life in Hollywood, CA. I had an apartment on Gower
overlooking the Hollywood sign. I passed Gower Street Studios every day
on my way to work for Smashbox. My life was beautiful and I hold the memory that
way intentionally because every person has moments that shape them.

This was mine.

Narssica was the aesthetic inspiration born out of marketing. When I first
moved to LA I had little money for entertainment. I would drive around THE CITY
in my 1995 Purple Nissan hardbody pickup and gaze at movie
launch billboards. In my time there I saw several that were mind blowing —
101 Dalmatians (overtook all of Sunset Boulevard), Charlie's Angels had a
fashion-forward coolness that people still talk about but the Matrix was
like nothing I had ever seen or ever will again. Their billboards illuminated in that grainy, green glow of a computer monitor with descending 0s and 1s
was a statement within itself. The lighting looked seductive yet creepy and I
discovered the installation when I couldn't sleep...at night. At that time
I had no idea what the film represented but the fashion spoke to my soul.
Also at that time I never missed an episode of Batman Beyond. I thought
the creation of that series was groundbreaking. I believed the writing,
the show's foresight into the future and its animation were so unique and
creative that I was probably one of the few adults that showed up at the
WB store to buy the movie. (Yes the clerk laughed at me...and no I did not
care. I also bought the action figure. Still have it today).

I went out dancing one night and when I came home still slightly
inebriated the sun peeked in around my Venetian
blinds. Narssica hit me like a bolt of lightning. I had a vision of a
character living in a world of duality. And the rest is a history that
never stopped following me. Her birth was monumental and striking. And
then nothing happened. I never could sell the series or the embedded
marketing ideas to anyone. Not because they weren't good. But simply
because I hadn't truly written the story. I had the characters Narssica
and Evangelyne Batista. I had Dusty and a few other villains that never
made it into the novel like "Serpentina" (modeled after Britney Spears).
I had connections and I had artist after artist rendering poor
interpretations.

But I didn't have a story.

Fast forward years later I opened a drawer and read one of the many
scripts I'd written about Narssica. This one was closer. Narssica
discovers a dungeon underneath LA where vampires force humans to fight in
gladiatorial death matches. The influence of Rome, glory and gore were
there but no Underwood and no real story. After reading that script I
decided it was time to mow my Dad's lawn. My father left me a house in
North Florida with a 1000 year old oak tree. The tree is a quiet miracle
that few people in the county notice when they drive past daily. But I
think about it constantly. At times I think it speaks to me.

On that day the tree said, "My roots run deep." And Underwood was conceived right then right there.

My AC went out that summer.  I woke when the air was cool and wrote until it was
unbearably hot. The hum of fans whirring drowned out my entire world as Delphine Devereaux filled my mind with a labyrinth of fantasy.

Because I have always been addicted to Aaron Spelling style escapism I
created the book as a fantasy oasis. It is based upon real people in a
magical setting. And now that it's done I still re-read the book and see
exactly what my subconscious was creating. A script for the first two
seasons of a very good tv show. Each chapter is named for a song selected
from a Queer Icon's catalog. Each chapter has an opening, a hook and an
ending cliffhanger. Each chapter is a contained story with a beautiful
monochromatic piece of artwork. The book is more visual than it is
literary.

My vision for the novel Narssica Ascending is to turn it into a series.

It's dark, it's adult and it's not sorry.

This would fit well with today's streaming services. The Queer themes, the action, the drama, the fashion and the aesthetic are all addictive hooks that would most definitely create a show that I would love to watch. And I believe my eye for entertainment
is discerning. My favorite show of all time is Game of Thrones. And I
believe the relentlessness of King Crassus and Jay Swain's Red Roman
Empire are somehow connected to the intricacy of that series. Obviously I
loved everything Batman or there would be no Narssica. But Batman Beyond
is an incredible work of fiction and anyone that knows entertainment knows
this to be true. Aaron Spelling was a genius and a master story teller.
If you don't believe me then ask Ryan Murphy. The Matrix has its
fingerprints all over the Blood Dispensary Fantasy World known as
B.L.i.S.S. An entire series could literally spawn from that alone. But
I'm not interested in ripping off the Wachowskis. I simply am inspired
by them.

The first half of the book really is "Narssica Becoming." It shows how
Delphine becomes obsessed with her parents' disappearance. She is haunted
by her traumatic childhood, the loss of her hair and her self-inflicted
isolation is explained. The discovery of her father's secret laboratory,
B.i.L.L.I.E and the arrival of Nyx. She destroys the Swain's Hollywood
empire and just when you think she's unstoppable she falls into a trap.
She is outsmarted by Evangelyne and falls deep, deep, deep into the
Underworld. This is your season finale. Chapters 9 and 24 are both abnormally long — and now you know why.

In the second half she finds herself lured into the dreamy, underwater,
sapphic paradise known as Underwood Deep.

She meets Ariadne, the spider oracle, she finds out that paradise has a price. She is sent on a quest to kill Momma T, "the leader of the Cannibal Queens" and ultimately
Narssica's adventures in Underwood begin here. The fantastic world of
Underwood City, the love triangle between Roxy Kim and the missing movie
star Jillian Barrow, the discovery of Krush, her mother and her father
are all incredible hooks for a second season of a show. They are the
backbone of elite "must see" tv and I am positive if interpreted properly
they will keep people on the edge of their seats.

No one is selling Queer culture in an encompassing way. Queer culture in
the USA has been reduced to drag queen parody, a destruction of Western
civilization and the absence of morality. It's seen as a lot of things
but culture is rarely mentioned. Few people are focused on the art, the
style, the music, the fashion, the drama and the positive impact that
gays have had on society. Without us the world would be unbearably dull.

And Narssica is a great way to teach without the preach.

The music catalog alone is gold. If you don't believe me then just look
at the chapter titles and imagine the songs playing with those beautiful
monochrome images. Any company moving music would benefit from this type
of attention.

The embedded marketing, the fashion hooks, the gaming hooks, the queer iconography are what you share with investors.  But the story, its aesthetic, its much needed escapism in a time obsessed with doom are what you will share with the world.  Let's talk about it:
