Collection: En Vogue Villains to Die For!
"Our villains? Imagine Joan Crawford, Miranda Priestly, Maleficent, Darth Vader, and Cruella all getting that fatal Dracula kiss—then strutting into fashion week with blood-red lipstick and centuries of spite. In Underwood, evil isn't just fabulous—it's immortal." -James Gardner
CRASSUS: THE ETERNAL EMPEROR
After his supposed "defeat" by the Parthians, Marcus Licinius Crassus discovered their nocturnal secret and why they preferred fighting at night! Serving 100 years of blood-bound servitude to Orodes II in exchange for the dark gift of immortality, Crassus began laying the foundation for what would become a 2000-year vampiric reign over humanity. The Roman Vampires built upon their advanced technology and quickly began creating Necropoli—vast underground cities—beneath Earth's major metropolises. Rome, Paris, London, and New York all housed magnificent Necropoli, but the creation of Underwood remains King Crassus' crowning achievement. It was he and his consigliere Jay Swain who recognized the film industry's hypnotic grip on mankind. They methodically engineered Hollywood and Underwood in tandem—one feeding the other an endless supply of blood and money. With his Crimson Legionaries enforcing his will and his architectural genius transforming the underworld, Crassus has killed or terrified any vampire who dares challenge him. He remains the supreme leader of vampire-kind, ruling from his brutalist palace with a marble fist and a fashion sense as cold and precise as his tactical mind.
VESPERUS: UNDERWOOD'S FLAMBOYANT IMPRESARIO & GAME NARRATOR
Vesperus is an unmissable fixture in Underwood society, a vampire of Eastern European descent whose presence commands attention wherever he goes. With his pale, bluish-tinted skin providing the perfect canvas, Vesperus adorns himself in flamboyant steampunk-meets-Renaissance clothing—always in black with elaborate gold embellishments that catch the light of Underwood's underground illumination. His most distinctive feature is an outrageously bright mohawk that changes color monthly (betting pools exist among Underwood citizens on what shade he'll choose next), dramatically offsetting his otherwise ghostly appearance. His intensely red eyes glow with an inner light, illuminating his handsome, angular features in even the darkest corners of Underwood's clubs.
As Underwood's premier celebrity personality, Vesperus hosts the metropolis's most popular talk show, "Night Whispers," where local celebrities vie for coveted interview slots. But his true power lies in his role as Underwood's omnipresent media voice—broadcasting breathless updates on Narssica's activities throughout the city: "This week the bald menace Narssica burned down a blood dispensary! What will she do next as Underwood suffers 64 days of terror from this DEVIL WOMAN!" His theatrical play-by-play narration follows players throughout their journey, turning their exploits into sensationalized entertainment while simultaneously raising the alarm level and difficulty. Vesperus delights in painting Narssica as Underwood's most wanted criminal, his melodious voice dripping with equal parts admiration and venom as he reports on her every move.
THE SWAINS: HOLLYWOOD'S ETERNAL POWER COUPLE
Jay Swain and his wife Evangelyne Batista, known collectively as the Swains, are the quintessential Hollywood power couple—and if we're being honest, why wouldn't they be? They've had centuries to perfect their grip on the industry. Jay, with his distinctive flame-red hair and calculating demeanor, descended upon Hollywood in the early days of silent film using the assumed name James Swain. After methodically "eating" his competition, he quickly established Swain Cinema and cast Evangelyne in her first silent film "Big Dreams" under the pseudonym Francis Dale. Two generations later, the couple reemerged as younger versions of themselves, but this time Evangelyne insisted on using her original name dating back to 1400s Spanish nobility. Jay obliged, never expecting her fame to rise to the heights she achieved. By modern day standards their relationship is complicated, but Jay and Evangelyne share a love story that is as inspiring as it is dark and terrifying.
EVANGELYNE BATISTA: THE FINAL STAR
Evangelyne didn't just become Hollywood's biggest star—she ensured her crown would never slip. A Southern European beauty with luxurious dark hair and blood-red eyes that she defiantly refuses to conceal in public, she actively enjoys terrifying those around her. Anyone who has come for her has either vanished without a trace, been found dead under mysterious circumstances, or simply fled in terror. She maintains her position as fashion's eternal "It Girl" through a combination of strategic public appearances and the ruthless elimination of potential rivals. Her personal collection of "preserved beauties"—rising stars she has partially transformed and keeps in suspended animation in her Bel Air mansion—provides her with regular "essence infusions" that maintain her radiance.
Jay, never one to dirty his hands personally, weaponizes his wife's lethality to eliminate business rivals. She handles the "deeds" while he's conveniently away on business. Hollywood insiders whisper that the last thing you want to see in a negotiation with Jay is a surprise visit from his lovely wife. Evangelyne despises Narssica with unmatched intensity, recognizing in her a natural beauty that her own manufactured perfection can never achieve. It was Evangelyne who convinced Crassus to sentence Narssica to the Blood Banquet, hoping to witness her destruction personally.
Evangelyne adores her husband but there is nothing she loves more than fame!
VORAX SANGUIS: THE ANCIENT HUNGER
Neither fully vampire nor fully beast, Vorax Sanguis is the embodiment of vampire-kind's primal origins. Standing nine feet tall with leathery bat-like wings and skin like ancient parchment stretched over a skeletal frame, Vorax predating even Crassus himself guards the deepest chambers of Underwood's catacombs, where Crassus keeps his most valuable treasures—including the precious rubies used to conquer King Oredes II. Unlike the sophisticated vampires of Crassus' court, Vorax cares nothing for fashion or appearance, though the creature does collect shiny objects and beautiful trinkets with childlike obsession, often adorning its terrifying form with stolen jewelry and scraps of designer fabrics. It is said that Crassus freed Vorax from King Oredes II's dungeon during the great vampire civil war. Ultimately the beast's only loyalty is to Crassus, who alone knows the ancient words that can command him. The labyrinth of tunnels Vorax has carved beneath Underwood has become a nightmare realm where swarms of its offspring—miniature versions of itself—hunt any who dare trespass.
KANDI RUSH: THE VENOM-ADDICTED NIGHTCLUB QUEEN
Kandi Rush is an enigmatic figure in Underwood culture who appeared in the dark metropolis shortly after becoming pregnant with the first half-blood child (half-human, half-vampire) in centuries! The father, Jay Swain, situated Kandi in the lap of luxury, purchasing her a penthouse in the esteemed Red Castrum building in Underwood's downtown district. Despite her numerous "enhancements" to appear more youthful Kandi has never taken the dark gift of vampirism. Rumors speculate she was forbidden by Evangelyne, who has reluctantly accepted her husband's lovers but made him promise that she would be the last to receive his everlasting bite.
But the truth runs much deeper. Kandi is addicted to venom. Vampire venom is the most euphoric substance known to mankind, designed to tranquilize prey and put humans in a state of bliss described as more intoxicating than any drug. The telltale sign of her addiction is the prominence of black veins on her face and hands—a mark she flaunts rather than conceals, making it part of her signature look. After giving birth, Kandi and Jay's relationship began to falter, prompting her to persuade him to buy her a nightclub. She transformed this venue into Krush, a modern recreation of the Playboy club's energy, complete with "Krush Kittens" who serve patrons while wearing custom-designed bunny-inspired outfits with vampire flair.
Perhaps the most persistent and tantalizing rumor in Underwood is that Kandi Rush is actually Necie Lovewell—Janine's long-lost movie star mother. The timing of her appearance, her knowledge of old Hollywood, and certain mannerisms have fueled this speculation for years. But you know what they say about rumors in Underwood: "They're like vampires—a new one is made every day, and they all suck!"
THE RED ROMAN LEGIONARIES: FASHION'S FATAL ENFORCERS
Elite guards transformed from Crassus' original legion, the Red Romans patrol Underwood in their signature crimson armor—a brutalist reinterpretation of ancient Roman military gear redesigned by underground fashion houses exclusively for Crassus' forces. These vampiric soldiers represent the perfect fusion of ancient discipline and immortal power. Each Legionary undergoes a thousand years of training before earning their crimson armor, which incorporates blood-circuitry technology that enhances their already formidable abilities. The distinctive helmet designs—featuring stylized skull facades with glowing red eye slits—have become so iconic that surface fashion designers have created "inspired" pieces, unaware of their true origin. The Red Romans operate with mechanical precision, enforcing Crassus' laws throughout Underwood while serving as the primary hunters who capture humans for the blood economy. They communicate through an ancient form of Latin even other vampires cannot understand, making them Crassus' most trusted tactical asset and the most feared presence in Underwood's streets.
